Aisle Types
Lift trucks are classified due to the kinds of aisles they have been designed to operate in. Wide Aisle and Narrow Aisle lift trucks are designed to turn in the aisle, whereas Very Narrow Aisle trucks actually don't turn within the aisle. There are some aisle widths to take into account with various units.
Very Narrow Aisle trucks could work in less than 6 feet areas, whereas some would utilize particular guidance systems such as optical, rail or wire systems in order to travel in the aisles. Several different models of VNA trucks comprise Swing Masts, Order Selectors and Turret Trucks. These are common models in compact retail areas and in several warehouse and storage situations.
NA or Narrow Aisle trucks could work in aisles that are 8 feet to 10 feet. Usually these are stand-up models like Reach Trucks. They are commonly used in storage facilities and warehouses.
Wide Aisle Standard forklifts fall into this truck category and are designed to work in aisles which are more than 11 feet wide.
Stand-Up Ergonomics
The "Ergomat" padding on stand-up units provide padding on a sloped floorboard. These features are designed to reduce operator exhaustion by absorbing vibration. The compartment for the driver is really large and has an 8" low step height that helps lessen overall body exhaustion by easing frequent entry and exit. The model includes polyurethane steer tires to absorb vibration and shocks caused by uneven floor in order to allow smooth traveling. For additional comfort, there is a floor mat and a cushioned armrest along with a backrest designed to help keep operators comfortable and hence more effective while limiting exhaustion.
