Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescopic booms are large industrial machinery designed with a straight boom arm that is extendable. The boom is normally located on a rotating turntable. The telescoping boom lifts are usually used for jobs which require tasks to be done at heights which exceed other kinds of lifts. For instance, employees are able to perform exterior renovations or repairs on buildings of medium height but using these lifts as opposed to having the extra work of setting up a pulley system or an outside elevator.
The boom lift is only designed to hold a single person. These buckets are better suitable to particular tasks like for example electrical repair, rather than window washing or general maintenance. These lifts come in gas or electric configurations and are available with both outdoor and indoor tires.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are named for the cross-braces under the work platform. These braces squeeze together to be able to push the platform straight up. As these kinds of equipment should be positioned directly below the work site, compared to boom lifts, these units are way more limited in their use.
Scissor lifts do, however, provide bigger platforms that allow the operator controlling the lift to access a larger work surface once the lift is raised. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of a concern with these kinds of machines, as they need to sit on flat ground in order to be used. Scissor lifts are ideal for being used for window installation or cladding, as they provide the employees with the desired mobility; they are also a good alternative for window cleaning applications or exterior repairs.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
Bucket trucks, cherry pickers and boom trucks each refer to the class a kind of utility vehicle used specially for vertical work. Generally, these trucks have a cab. It is here where the driver sits and operates the equipment. There is a bucket for where the worker can stand as well as a winch for carrying and an actuator arm for lifting the boom.
Boom trucks take workers to heights that would normally be inaccessible. The function of cranes is to lift heavy materials or equipment from one location to another. There are a variety of different crane types that could carry out a variety of purposes. Both of these different types of machines excel at different tasks and are suitable for specific applications and finishing particular jobs.
