On a lift truck, you'll notice a variety of different ways which raise and lower the lifts, such as: rack and pinion lifts, scissor lifts, screw lifts, telescoping lifts and articulated lifts. The scissor lift utilizes crisscrossed folding supports with a screw mechanism which draws the members together. Rack and pinion lifts utilize a pinion, that is a small drive gear, to drive a straight-toothed rack to lift the cargo. The telescoping lift system is designed with multiple parts which retract and extend into and out of each other to achieve lifting action. Screw lifts use threads to raise the lift. Articulated lifts utilize a mechanism that involves many parts that unfold or articulate. An articulated lift example is the "cherry picker."
Forklift Material Handling
In material handling processes, there can be numerous reasons to keep up with innovations. Material handling processes and the tools can be used to deal with more SKUs, increased geographical coverage, and the need to lower inventories. Tools that are well ahead of the technological curve can help productivity maximization and increase effectiveness.
Forklift Battery & Charging Technology
The newest innovations on electric forklifts have yielded longer run-times and higher capacities than ever before, which makes the choice to convert from the conventional IC forklift over to the improved electric units. Charger and battery combinations are providing more power for much longer periods than older systems can achieve. Enhancements in battery and charger technologies are not just making electric lift trucks more beneficial but they are making it possible to have more environmentally friendly warehouse operations.
These new batteries are called Lithium-Ion Batteries or Li-ion batteries. This technology is still somewhat new, but Li-ion batteries show incredible promise. They are not only smaller but are capable of holding up to six times the charge of standard lead acid batteries. Li-ion batteries have extremely low maintenance needs and could maximize opportunity charging through zero memory technology.
