A lot of companies today are trying to and be environmentally responsible. They desire cleaner products to utilize in their places of business. To be able to meet all these expectations, forklift companies as well as their suppliers are considering other fuel ideas and cleaner burning energy sources.

One of the main surprises is that technology is enabling manufactures to make units that use less energy overall, cost less to operate, reduce carbon footprints and provide as much power as compared to their internal combustion or IC counterparts. These new designs are creating an obvious shift within the forklift market. Lots of manufacturers have since been encouraged to invest more into the development and research of these emerging machinery.

Approximately 60 percent of today's forklift market is represented by electric units. This is up from approximately 45 percent approximately 20 years ago. Increasingly more corporations and businesses are enjoying lower operating costs by choosing electric. Like for instance, the cost efficiency alone when it comes to the costs of maintenance and fuel save companies thousands of dollars. The electric models offer a longer life to the fleet, compared to IC models and the reduced emissions in the facility allow individuals working inside a much better air quality.

Less Emissions: There is a better overall improvement in operating condition because these units do not emit carcinogens or carbons. This has resulted in better health for all workers working near forklifts.

Reduced Expenses: Lower operating costs have resulted from less moving parts and the reduction in heat being produced.

Less Fuel Expenses: When correctly taken care of and maintained, batteries and chargers cost considerably less compared to Liquid Propane models and the electric units offer better costs and more stability.

Improved Operator Ergonomics: IC or internal combustion engines not just produce emissions but also give off much vibration and heat. Both of these situations can really contribute to operator fatigue.
