Narrow aisle forklifts
Frequently used within warehouse operations is the Narrow Aisle Forklift. These forklifts are vital equipments within the business because their small size and extreme maneuverability allow warehouses to utilize space to maximum storing capacity. They can easily pass aisles as narrow as 1.8 meters wide, whereas typical lift trucks require 3.4 meters of aisle width, at least.
This type of forklift is sub-categorized as "narrow aisle forklifts" and "very narrow aisle forklifts". The first need 2.4 meters - 3 meters in aisle width, whereas the second could function in a 1.8 meters wide space.
The design of a narrow aisle forklift includes forks positioned at right angles to the body of the truck. The trucks do not need to face the shelves, but instead drive straight down the aisle picking up loads to the side. This design feature is the key to their suitability for limited spaces.
Several very narrow aisle forklifts come with wire or optical guidance systems that make sure that the forklift moves in a straight line down the aisle, that leaves the operator free to concentrate on load placement and picking.
The cushion tires that come with these types of lifts are made of solid rubber. The hard tires perform well on paved, smooth surfaces and concrete floors. Narrow aisle forklifts have electric motors suited for use within indoor places. Propane-powered versions are available as well.
