Forklift trucks are essential pieces of equipment utilized commonly in business, particularly within warehouses, distribution centers, storage handling and industrial facilities. A forklift truck is constructed of hundreds of components, such as the carriage, the cab, the power source, the engine and the wheels. Forklifts usually have various types of attachments as well. The following are a few of the most important parts of a lift truck.

Lift Truck Engine - At the rear of the equipment, the forklift has its power source. The various kinds of engine on the forklift will need varying power sources. Like for example, a lift truck with an IC engine can have any of the following as its power source: LP gas, CNG gas, gasoline or diesel. Electric motor forklifts receive their power from fuel cells or a battery.

Frame of The Truck - the base of the forklift truck and the most vital of all the forklift parts is the truck frame. This forms the core of the machinery. All other lift truck parts are connected to the base, like for instance the axles, mast, wheels overhead guard and counterweight. Fuel and hydraulic fluid tanks can be part of the frame assembly too.

Counterweight Forklift Components - While lifting heavy loads, the counterweight allows the machine to be balanced. This specific part is cast iron and comes attached to the rear of the lift truck. The counterbalance balances the frame of the truck so as to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being carried or lifted on the front. In an electric lift truck, the heavy lead-acid battery gives balance and can function as part of the counterweight.

The Cab Area - The cab is also known as the operator compartment. Lift trucks will sometimes have closed cabs while others would be open to the air. There are really numerous parts located within the cab for operating the forks. The cab has such important components like the steering wheel, operator controls, pedals, seats, levers and switches. The dashboard contains operator readouts.
